"The truth. It is a beautiful and terrible thing, and must therefore be treated with great caution." - J. K. Rowling

I have debated for some time if I should take this drastic of a step. I was concerned about so much when I first started doubting. I have been able to find peace with many of those concerns as they relate to myself or my family. Some worries though I have by going public with this faith crisis are:

· Will some of my loved ones be angry?

· Will those I care about make damaging assumptions?

· Will I be treated differently? Like I am contagious or with pity?

· Will my family, especially my kids be excluded from social circles because of my decision?

In listening and discussing this topic with others in similar circumstances, a common answer to these concerns is if a person actually cares about you, these issues will be less important than the relationship itself. If a person does take issue or a decision is made to sever or greatly alter the relationship as a result of a faith crisis, then perhaps that toxic person is not worthy of your time and the relationship anyway. I hope these worries turn out to be unfounded fears. I hope my relationships are more important to those I love than a difference in beliefs.

"Risk! Risk anything! Care no more for the opinions of others, for those voices. Do the hardest thing on earth for you. Act for yourself. Face the truth."

- Katherine Mansfield
